Even winter sports were largely invented by the British leisured classes initially at the Swiss village of Zermatt (Valais) (year?) and St Moritz in 1864.

Until the first tourists appeared, the Swiss thought of the long snowy winter as being a time when the best thing to do was to stay indoors and make cuckoo clocks or other small mechanical items.

The first packaged winter sports holidays (vacations) followed in 1903, to Adelboden, also in Switzerland.

Organized sport was well established in Britain before it reached other countries. The vocabulary of sport bears witness to this: rugby, football, and boxing all originated in Britain, and even Tennis, originally a French sport, was formalized and codified by the British, who hosted the first national championship in the nineteenth century, at Wimbledon. Winter sports were a natural answer for a leisured class looking for amusement during the coldest season.

The Homestead Allowance: "The homestead exemption, or allowance, traces it origins back to the 18th century, when the United States was expanding westward. The exemption began as an effort to protect wives and children if the husband was in danger of losing the house through gambling or dishonest means. It eventually became a method of protecting the family from losing their home from improper or unscrupulous debt claims after the husband died.

Today, it is an asset protection tool which if offered by most states to give some protection to the owner of a house if he should die with a large amount of debt. The “homestead allowance” has preserved the residence and the land for the benefit of the surviving spouse and minor children. This homestead is protected against claims of creditors in recognition of the custom that the decedent’s spouse and children should not lose their residence because of the decedent’s death. This protection against creditor claims is preserved when the homestead passes to the surviving spouse or the children of the decedent. The homestead is a significant means of preserving the family home for the family.

Most state statutes define the qualifying property for the homestead as the dwelling house and the adjacent property. The amount of property can vary from as little to half a city acre to more than 40 acres in a rural location. In some areas, the state homestead statue may define the allowance as a dollar amount. Some state statutes may also exempt other property, such as household furnishings, a vehicle, clothing, etc."

The Anatomy of a Mortgage: "What exactly is a mortgage? Simply put, it's a loan from a financial institution to you. In return, you pay interest on the amount loaned. The lender also has first dibs on your house in case you neglect to pay back the loan.

Francophiles and wordsmiths will recognize the root word 'mort' in there. No, that's not your Uncle Mort; that's the French word for 'dead.' The idea is that you're going to kill off that loan, by paying back the money you borrowed. You amortize the loan, over time. Yes, it's a slow death, but it must be carried out.

A loan has three facets:

1. size (how many dollars you need to borrow)
2. interest (the percentage rate you pay on the loan)
3. term (how long it will take to pay off the loan)"

Intro

A mortgage is a device used to create a lien on real estate by contract. The mortgage is an instrument that the borrower (called the mortgagor) uses to pledge real property to the lender (called the mortgagee) as security for a debt, also called hypothecation.

The mortgage instrument contains two parts:

* the mortgage, which is the pledge
* the note, which is the actual evidence of the debt and promise to repay (sometimes called a promissory note).

To protect the lender, a mortgage is recorded in the public records creating a lien (when there are multiple liens, order of recording determines priority)."

Paintball Store reviews - Powered By Bloglines: "BASIC RULES OF PAINTBALL

a) General Rules

1. A minimum of one person is designated as the Referee for each Paintball game. The Referee will be the one who starts the game, stops the game for paint checks, decides the issues that may arise and who ends the game. The Referee should have a whistle for signaling the start, stopping and ending of the game. As with all games, it does not pay to contradict the decisions of the referee, decisions by referees and judges are final and unarguable.

2. A player is out of the game if he is hit by a marking pellet (paintball) and it breaks on him, this includes his clothing, gun or equipment. It doesn't matter whether the player is shot by a opposing player or a teammate (friendly fire). When a player is marked she/he is to immediately call themselves 'OUT or DEADMAN'. She/he must then hold their gun over their head, continue to call out 'OUT or DEADMAN' and leave the playing field by the shortest and safest route.

3. A player is not considered out of the game if she/he is struck by a marking pellet (paintball) and it does not break. A player is not considered out of the game if she/he is struck by a splatter from a marking pellet (paintball). Splatter is considered to be the spray or fragments from a marking pellet that has broken on an object such as a tree, bush or rock etc., close to the player. If a player calls herself/himself 'OUT or DEADMAN', because they think that they have been hit by a marking pellet (paintball), she/he is immediately out of the game and must leave the playing field by the shortest and safest route. Even if the player discovers that they were not hit, after they make the call their out, and must leave the playing field at once."
